Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 22, 2026

Introduction

InsulinMe ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our insulin dose tracking application and associated website.

Key Privacy Principles

  • Your health data stays on your device
  • No user accounts or registration required
  • No data collection or analytics
  • Optional HealthKit integration you control
  • No advertisements or third-party tracking

Information We Do NOT Collect

InsulinMe is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do NOT collect, transmit, or store:

  • Personal identification information
  • Email addresses or contact information
  • Insulin dose data
  • Health information
  • Usage analytics or telemetrics
  • Device identifiers
  • Location data
  • Cookies or tracking data

Information Stored Locally on Your Device

All insulin dose tracking data is stored exclusively on your device using:

  1. Local App Storage: Insulin doses, preferences, and settings are saved in the app's local database on your device.
  2. App Group Storage: Data is shared between the main app, widgets, and Live Activities using iOS App Group containers, but remains entirely on your device.
  3. UserDefaults: User preferences (default insulin types, chart settings, IOB calculation preferences) are stored locally.

You are in complete control of this data. Deleting the app removes all locally stored information.

Optional HealthKit Integration

InsulinMe can integrate with Apple Health (HealthKit) to write insulin delivery data, but this is:

  • Entirely optional — you choose whether to enable it
  • Write-only — the app writes insulin doses to Health but does not read data from Health
  • Controlled by you — you can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time in iOS Settings
  • Private to Apple's ecosystem — data written to HealthKit is governed by Apple's Health app privacy policy

When HealthKit integration is enabled, insulin doses are written to your Health app using Apple's secure HealthKit framework. We do not have access to this data beyond the write operation.

Data Synchronization

InsulinMe uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to optionally sync your insulin data across your Apple devices.

  • Sync data is stored in your personal, private iCloud account
  • All data is encrypted by Apple's infrastructure
  • We do not operate any servers and have no access to your synced data
  • You can disable iCloud sync at any time in the app's settings
  • Apple Watch uses WatchConnectivity for real-time sync with your iPhone, with CloudKit as a fallback
  • Settings sync via iCloud Key-Value Store using your Apple ID

For iCloud privacy details, refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Beta Feedback and Diagnostic Logs

If you choose to submit beta feedback through the app:

  • Diagnostic logs may be exported from your device
  • Logs contain app behavior information (errors, warnings, app events)
  • Logs do not contain insulin dose amounts, timestamps, or personal health data
  • You voluntarily choose to export and share these logs
  • Logs are used solely to diagnose technical issues and improve the app

We do not automatically collect feedback or logs. You must explicitly initiate the export and sharing process.

Third-Party Services

InsulinMe does not use:

  • Analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics, Mixpanel)
  • Advertising networks
  • Social media integrations
  • Third-party cloud services

The beta is distributed through Apple's TestFlight service. TestFlight may collect crash reports and usage data as described in Apple's Privacy Policy.

Children's Privacy

InsulinMe does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The app is designed for personal insulin tracking under the guidance of healthcare providers.

Medical Disclaimer and Privacy

InsulinMe is not a medical device. The app does not:

  • Provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment
  • Share your data with healthcare providers unless you explicitly choose to do so
  • Make automated dosing decisions

All insulin dosing decisions remain your responsibility in consultation with your healthcare team.

Data Security

While we do not collect or transmit your data, we implement security best practices:

  • All data is stored using iOS secure storage APIs
  • App Group containers use iOS sandboxing for isolation
  • HealthKit data is protected by Apple's security framework
  • iCloud sync uses Apple's end-to-end encryption
  • No network transmission of health data to our servers (we have no servers)

Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

  • Access: All your data is viewable within the app
  • Export: You can export diagnostic logs (not health data) for troubleshooting, and PDF/CSV reports of your insulin history
  • Deletion: Deleting the app removes all local data
  • HealthKit Control: Revoke HealthKit permissions in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Health
  • iCloud Control: Disable iCloud sync in the app's settings at any time

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. Updates will be posted:

  • On our website
  • In the app's settings or about section
  • With an updated "Last Updated" date

Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

International Users

InsulinMe does not collect or transfer data across borders. All data remains on your local device (and optionally in your personal iCloud account) regardless of your location.

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, California residents have specific rights. However, since InsulinMe does not collect, sell, or share personal information, these disclosure and opt-out requirements do not apply.

European Users (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation, EU users have specific rights regarding personal data. Since InsulinMe does not collect or process personal data, GDPR data processing obligations do not apply. All data remains on your device under your control.
